Leading online pharmacy and healthcare provider Medicine Direct have reported a sharp rise in the number of drug shortages as many pharmacies and hospitals struggle to cope with the demand on certain medication. Menopause medication such as hormone replacement therapy treatment seem to be the hardest hit with stock levels virtually at rock bottom across the country.

Other anti inflammatory medication such as Naproxen is also experiencing a sharp drop in stock levels which is also causing an increase in the cost price. Cost price increases have also hit the consumer hard as retail prices for the drug have also climbed up when compared to the start of the year.
