Heike Rindt’s picnic passion

You’ve got to hand it to her, she’s certainly swiped some picnic baskets. Not obviously outdoorsy (but there’s a Berlin craze apparently), Heike Rindt presented her collection of spaces within space (picnic boxes to you and me) last night at the Exeter Phoenix.

The boxes themselves come in all kinds of colours, shapes and sizes and are indeed in boxes themselves (a nice touch). And then in the other gallery you can have your own picnic with a wonderfully pastoral wall covering for authenticy, and you can even stick up your own picnic pics and reminiscences (adhesive, paper and pens provided) for company.

Appetite whetted much? Well go to the Big Picnic on Sunday and live the dream. There’s loads going on and loads of information about it in loads of different places, so find it (there’s even stuff on this site). Think of it as a quest to see if you’re worthy to share the same couple of hundred acres with the rest of us.
